Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent Fasting

An Egyptian Pyramid inscription from around 3800 BC reads, " Humans live on 1/4th of what they eat; on the other 3/4th lives their doctor."

Intermittent Fasting is an eating pattern that cycles between period of fasting and eating. It's an ancient tradition, having been practised by many cultures and religions over centuries. Intermittent Fasting is a better way to reduce body mass without actually going to the gym or counting every calorie on your plate. It is more about "When you eat" rather than "How much you eat."

Types of Intermittent Fasting :

 1. 16/8 Fasting

In this type of fasting, one fasts for 16 hours and is allowed to eat anything in the other 8 hours of the day. It is the most popular type of fasting, and the meals or the intake is done as either breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner.

2. Alternate Day Fasting

I think the heading speaks for itself; This type of fasting is done in alternate days. In this fasting method, you are not allowed to eat anything for one day but the next day you can eat anything you want. Just remember not to overeat. Follow this for minimum two weeks.

3. Weekly Fasting

This is a type of fasting where you don't eat for a complete week. I would recommend you to check with your doctor before planning this type of fasting; And don't forget to drink lots of water (I mean 7 litres a day!).

Benefits of Intermittent Fasting :

The Intermittent Fasting method uses the stored fats in your body for energy. It also reduces stress, anxiety and the feeling of depression; which allows you to concentrate on your everyday activities. It also reduces certain health conditions risks like Obesity, improves hormones, enhances insulin resistance and depletes glucose. Many doctors have proven that Intermittent Fasting increases Longevity,i.e, Increases life expectancy and reduces ageing. This is way easier than the other types of diets; you don't have to buy costly diet food or plan your meals for the day.

Eating three times a day wasn't designed for our body. Back when we didn't know how to cultivate or food wasn't an availability all the time; Humans used to hunt and eat to store protein and fats until the next hunt. Which can be the next day or the next week. There should be a natural frequency in eating, that is how our body was designed.

Conclusion :

I had to do a lot of research over the internet and experimenting it myself. According to my own experience, I would recommend you to eat more of fibre and for ladies - eat more food containing Iron (cause Female need more of iron intake that Male). Also stick to some easy workouts plans for more effect. Remember to eat when your body needs, not when the clock says you should.
